Italian Audiobooks Now Available on Spotify

8 October 2026

At the Book Fair in progress in Frankfurt, Spotify announces the expansion of its audio offering: audiobooks will also arrive in Italy.

Users in our country will thus have access to a catalog of more than 350,000 titles, available in over 120 languages, including more than 14,000 works in Italian (a monthly 12 hours of listening will be included in some Premium subscriptions, but additional options are also planned, such as direct purchase of a single title or “Audiobooks+”, an add-on subscription for those who want extra listening hours beyond the base plan).

Access to audiobooks will be extended to 180 countries

By the end of the year, access to audiobooks will thus be extended from the current 22 markets to over 180 countries: “An extraordinary expansion that will allow more than 750 million people worldwide to discover, listen to in streaming, or purchase audiobooks on Spotify. The platform’s growth brings with it a catalog of over 350,000 titles that includes notable new releases in Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, and many other languages, reaching coverage of more than 120 languages,” Spotify explains.

Also according to the platform, between September 2025 and September 2026 the monthly audiobook listeners rose by nearly 40%.

To date, Spotify has signed non-exclusive agreements, among others, with Mondadori Group, Giunti Editore, Emons Audio, Il Narratore Audiolibri, Fazi Editore and other publishers, including L’Orma, Marcos y Marcos, Area51 Publishing and Giuntina. “A network destined to expand further,” the platform notes.

Among the novelties announced in Frankfurt is the “Find the Page” feature, which eases the passage from reading to listening, by synchronizing a printed or digital book with the corresponding point in the audiobook through the smartphone’s camera.

I write about books the way I read them: slowly, curiously, and with attention to the details that linger after the final page. At Lythrum Press, I cover literary fiction, essays, memoirs and the wider culture of reading, with a particular interest in voices that challenge familiar ways of seeing the world. My work is guided by one simple idea: a good book deserves more than a reaction — it deserves a conversation.
