Chapter no 119 -โ€Œ โ€Œโ€Œโ€Œโ€Œโ€Œโ€Œโ€ŒSCHOOLโ€™ S OUT FOR SUMMER

Redeeming 6 (Boys of Tommen, #4)

AOIFE

โ€œTHAT WAS PAINFUL,โ€ย I declared, following my friends out of school after finishing up the last exam of our secondary school academic career.

Six years of preparation.

Well, six years of prep work for Kev and the others.

It was more like six years of shits, giggles, and banter for us four. And now it was all over.

โ€œThat was a total bust,โ€ Podge grumbled, scratching the back of his head. โ€œMy mamโ€™s going to go mental when the results come out in August.โ€

โ€œAt least you guys will be away when the LC results come out. Iโ€™m going to have to deal with my mam in the flesh.โ€ With a dramatic sigh, Casey unzipped her school bag and emptied the contents into the huge communal wheely bin outside the school, while Podge did the same.

Meanwhile, Alec threw his entire schoolbag inside before stripping off his school uniform and tossing that in, too. โ€œIโ€™ve waited six bastard years to do that,โ€ he declared, standing shamelessly in his jocks, while he rummaged around in his gear bag for a t-shirt and shorts to throw on. โ€œAnd Iโ€™m telling ya, lads, it felt just as good as I imagined it would.โ€

โ€œI canโ€™t believe you guys are going to miss the debs,โ€ Casey grumbled, giving Alec an accusing look. โ€œWhat am I supposed to do, huh? By August, Aoifeโ€™s going to be ready to pop. Joeyโ€™sโ€ฆ letโ€™s not even go there. And you guys? Youโ€™ll be off whoring and touring across the United States, leaving me friendless, dateless, and dickless. Itโ€™s bullshit.โ€

โ€œAh, donโ€™t be cranky,โ€ Alec crooned, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pressing a kiss to her hair. โ€œYou know Iโ€™ll be coming back for my little devil-tits.โ€

โ€œHe might be out by then,โ€ Podge said, giving me a sympathetic look. โ€œAny word?โ€

I shook my head, feeling that familiar swell of devastation wash through me. I hated being asked that question. It was something my parents had asked me three times a day since he left for rehab. Every time I had to answer and say no, another little piece of my heart was chipped away.

I got it.

Joey couldnโ€™t call.

He didnโ€™t have access to technology, nor had he been granted visitor privileges.

But that didnโ€™t mean that his lack of contact didnโ€™t scald me.

โ€œLad, I canโ€™t wait to see him again,โ€ Alec said in a wistful tone. โ€œItโ€™ll be weird as hell, though,โ€ he added with a chuckle. โ€œHaving a conversation with Lynchy when heโ€™s not off his tits.โ€ He frowned then and scratched his chin. โ€œYou know, I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s ever happened before.โ€

โ€œNot helping, dopey,โ€ Casey grumbled, elbowing him in the ribs. โ€œJoeโ€™s going to kick ass in treatment, and then heโ€™s going to come home, clean,

sober, and ready to kick ass in fatherhood.โ€ โ€œWell, thatโ€™s a given,โ€ Podge replied.

โ€œLynchyโ€™s got this, sexy legs,โ€ Al agreed, giving me a supportive smile.

โ€œYouโ€™ll see.โ€

โ€œYeah,โ€ I replied, offering them a bright smile.

I hope so.
