I had no explanation for how my life had unraveled to the point where I was showering a semi-comatose, drugged-up hurler other than this: I fell in love with a girl who had more layers and complications attached to her life than a Rubikโs cube.
A Rubikโs cube, I could solve.
Shannon Lynchโs life, not so much.
โDid you get under his arms?โ Gibsie asked as he stood fully-clothed in my shower, holding a very naked Joey the hurler up. โMake sure you get the creases.โ
โHow is this happening to us, Gibs?โ I asked my best friend. โOne minute, weโre playing rugby for Tommen, hanging out at Biddies with the lads and running drills, and the next, weโre hosing puke off a hurler from BCS.โ Shaking my head at the absolute lunacy of the situation, I squirted another dollop of body wash on Joeyโs chest and aimed the shower hose, careful to avoid the bruising. โHow did we fall into this, lad?โ
โYou love his sister, and I love his sisterโs best friend,โ Gibsie replied, scrubbing Joey down with a sponge. โItโs safe to say that pussy got us into this, Kav.โ
Wasnโt that the fucking truthโฆ
โHere,โ Gibs said as he turned Joey in his arms. โMake sure you get the back of him again.โ
Bile rose in my throat as my eyes took in the sight of bruise after discolored bruise, and scar after faded scar on his body.
His entire back wasย litteredย with a mixture of blemishes, faint lines, and scars.
Jesus Christ.
I studied his bare skin with cool, calculated eyes. It didnโt take a genius to figure out who had put those marks on his body.
Their piece of shit father.
Maybe he used a belt, or maybe he used something worse. Fuck, I didnโt know. But he had scarsย everywhere.
How the fuck had this gone unnoticed?
What about his girlfriend? Or their mother? His trainers?
Did nobodyย seeย him?
โThis is so wrong,โ Gibsie grumbled, voicing my thoughts aloud. He turned him back to face me and wrapped an arm around his chest to hold him up. โSo fucking wrong, Johnny.โ
โYeah, lad,โ I bit out, careful not to spray the areas on his stomach with fresh bruises. โI know.โ
โStop,โ Joey groaned, shivering violently, as he pushed against the arm Gibsie had wrapped around him. โIโm gonna be โโ
Gibsie swung them both around just in time for Joey to shower the wall with a fresh coating of chunks. โLad,โ Gibs said as he scrubbed the sponge over Joeyโs face. โYou donโt ever mix your drugs.โ
โLike youโd know,โ I scoffed.
โWell, I presume itโs similar to mixing your drink,โ Gibsie shot back. โA big, fat no-no!โ
โItโs better he gets it all out of his system.โ Leaning around them both, I hosed down the vomit on the wall before retackling the never-ending stream of vomit coming from Joey. โTheyโd only pump him out in the hospital anyway.โ
โExactly,โ Gibsie agreed, patting Joeyโs cheek. โConsider this your own personal, free-range stomach pumping session โ Gibsie style.โ
โFuck off, ya creepy bastard,โ Joey groaned, shaking from head to toe.
โNormally, I would take offense to that,โ Gibsie huffed. โBut considering weโre in a shower together and your naked ass is pressed to my dick, Iโm going to let that comment slide, because I, too, find this situation slightly creepy.โ
โHeโs saving your neck,โ I growled. โWe both are, so why donโt you show your appreciation by shutting the fuck up and puking out the poison.โ
โFuck you, Kav โโ
More vomiting.
โThatโs it,โ Gibsie coaxed, dabbing his mouth once more. โPuke out all the expensive, class A drugs. Good job. Let the water wash your sins and wages down the drain.โ
My phone began to ring loudly in my pocket and I frowned, my eyes shifting to Gibsie. โYouโre here.โ
Gibsie rolled his eyes. โIโm not the only one with your number.โ
Wiping my hand on my t-shirt, I slipped my hand into my pocket and dragged out my phone. โShite.โ I stared at the name flashing on the screen and groaned. โItโs my Ma.โ
โOh, Jesus,โ Gibsie joined me in groaning. โShe knows, doesnโt she? Of course she fucking does.โ He continued to scrub Joey down as he ranted. โShe probably has a tracker on your ass.โ
โGet off me,โ Joey slurred, slapping at Gibsieโs hand. โChrist.โ
โKeep him quiet,โ I warned, eye-balling Gibsie as I clicked accept and put the phone on loudspeaker. โMa, howโs it going?โ
โJohnny, love,โ Mam sighed down the phone. โAre you alright? You took a long time answering me.โ
โIโm grand, Ma. Whatโs up?โ
โOh, love, I was calling to let you know that I might notย โโ
โStop!โ Joey groaned loudly. โIt burns.โ
Gibsie and I both froze and stared at each other in horror.
โWhat burns?โ Mam demanded. โAre you okay?โ
โFuck me!โ Joey continued to flinch and hiss. โItโs too hot.โ
Glaring at Gibsie, I mouthed, โShut him up.โ
Gibsie gaped back at me, whisper-hissing, โHow?โ
Give me strengthโฆย I aimed the hose at his face and mouthed, โWith your hand, genius!โ
With water spluttering from his own lips, Gibsie slapped a hand over Joeyโs mouth and I nodded in approval. Leaning over the tub, I adjusted the setting on the shower and lowered the temperature of the water. โHappy now?โ I mouthed, glaring at Joey as I hosed him down.
โJohnny? Is Gerard messing with the cooker again?โ Mam asked, sounding flustered. โTell that boy he better not touch the matches. Thereโs a hole melted into the extractor fan from his last outing with flammables.โ
โThat wasย you!โ Gibsie mouthed, outraged.
โNo, Ma, heโs not cooking.โ Shaking my head, I looked up to the ceiling and blurted the first thing that came to mind, โThat was just some fella on the television.โ
โThe television?โ
โYeah, weโre, ah โโ Narrowing my eyes, I aimed the hose at a stubborn chunk of puke on Joeyโs shoulder. โWeโre watching a film.โ
โOh, Johnny,โ Mam grumbled. โNot one of those dirty ones. The doctors warned you to avoid interfering with yourself until your stitches heal completely.โ
Gibsie snickered.
Jesus Christ.ย I let my head fall back in silent despair. โNo, Ma, weโre watchingโฆโ
โYouโre watching what, Johnny?โ
โMy Left Foot!โ Gibsie blurted out loudly. โFor the leaving cert, Mammy K!โ
โIโm doing Gatsby, ya bollox,โย I mouthed, glaring.
โAh, thatโs lovely,โ Mam cooed, mollified. โGood boy, Gerard! Very educational.โ
Gibsie arched a brow and grinned.
โDid you need something?โ I asked, getting back to the point. โBecause Iโm trying to watch Christy Brown here.โ
โOh, right, well hereโs the thing, love,โ Mam said, tone hesitant. I rolled my eyes with impatience and waited for her to get to the point. โI might not make it back home tonight.โ
Thank you, Jesus!ย โThatโs a shame.โ
โTraffic was insane getting up here and the thought of driving back down in bumper to bumper backlog is more than I can handle.โ
Gibsie gleamed in approval.
โThen you should definitely stop over at the old house with Da,โ I replied, tone soothing. โYouโre tired, Ma โ too tired to be making that journey.โ
โOn your own in the dark,โ Gibsie offered. โAlone and female.โ
โGibs,โ I warned.
โSounds too dangerous if you ask me, Mammy K,โ he continued, ignoring me. โDriving through Dublin city at night, all by your lonesome.โ
โSheโs from Ballymun, ya spanner,โ I grumbled. โSheโd take your culchie arse out in a heartbeat.โ
โBoys!โ Mam snapped and then sighed heavily down the line. โIโll be home no later than lunchtime tomorrow to take you to your physio appointmentโฆ if youโre sure youโll be okay without me โโ
โIโm sure,โ I quickly interjected, leaving out the snippet that I had been just fine without either of them for years. โIโll be grand.โ Leaning over the tub, I reached up and switched off the shower. โWe both will.โ Grabbing two towels off the rack, I tossed one to Gibs and tucked the other under my arm. โNo worries.โ
โI love you, Johnny,โ Mam finally said.
โYeah โโ Balancing my phone on the side of the tub, I draped the towel over Joeyโs shoulders before snatching my phone back up. โLove ya, too, Ma.โ
โOh, before I forgetโโ
โGotta go, Ma. Bye, bye, bye โโ Ending the call, I slipped my phone back into my pocket and exhaled a huge sigh. โThank Christ for that.โ
โIโll say,โ Gibsie agreed, dropping his hand from Joeyโs mouth. โIโd say weโre in the clear, lad.โ
โJesus,โ Joey hissed, teeth chattering. โYouโre a mammyโs boy, arenโt ya?โ
โDo you want to be gagged again?โ I narrowed my eyes. โBecause that can be arranged.โ
โFuck you both,โ Joey mumbled, breathing hard. โDonโt do me any favors.โ
My mouth fell open. โAre you shitting me right now, Joey?โ
โI think the word youโre looking for isย thankย you both,โ Gibsie interjected cheerfully. He cast me a meaningful look and shook his head in warning. โAnd you are more thanย welcome, Joseph.โ
Holding my tongue and reining in my temper, I took a step back and watched as Gibsie helped him out of the tub.
โDonโt fucking touch me!โ Roughly shoving Gibsie away, Joey staggered backwards and collapsed on the floor. โI donโt need your help.โ
โWell, tough shit because youโre getting it,โ I snapped. โWhether you want it or not.โ
โYouโre a little fucked up, Joey the hurler,โ Gibsie mused. โYou know that, right?โ
โYeah, Iโm fucked up,โ Joey sneered, shaking from head to toe. โAnd youโre just plain fucked in the head.โ
โIndeed,โ Gibsie agreed solemnly.
Breathing hard, Joey dropped his head in his hands and pulled on his hair. โWhereโs my phone?โ Exhaling a choked breath, he hissed, โI need myย phone. I need to call myโฆfuck!โ
โYou donโt have a phone anymore, lad โ or a wallet,โ Gibsie replied calmly. โYour sister said you sold it, right along with your dignity, for that horrendous pain youโre in.โ Grabbing another towel off the rack, Gibsie tossed it on his lap, covering him up. โAll that shit flushing its way out of your system right now? Everything you puked out of your body? It cost you exactly one wallet, one phone, and one soul. Pretty high price, huh? I sure hope it was worth it.โ He patted his shoulder. โNow, if youโll both excuse me, I need a shower of my own.โ Peeling his drenched shirt over his head, Gibsie tossed it in the laundry hamper next to the door before strolling out of the bathroom.
I half expected Joey Lynch to erupt right there in the middle of my bathroom, but he didnโt do a thing. Instead, he wrapped his arms around his knees and dropped his head. โFuck.โ Cupping the back of his neck with one hand, he rocked back and forth, muttering the word โfuckโ over and over.
โWhat did you take?โ
Silence.
โOkay.โ Lowering myself onto the edge of the tub, I rubbed a hand down my thigh and tried a different approach. โWhy did you do it?โ
โDonโt judge me,โ he hissed, swinging his gaze to meet me. โDonโt you dare fucking judge meโฆโ Squeezing his eyes shut, he balled his hands into fists and made a hitched sound in his throat as his body trembled violently. โNot until youโve been in my shoes. Seen what Iโve seen. Heard what Iโve heard.โ
I remained still as a statue and resisted the urge to reach over and steady him. โIโm not judging you, lad.โ
โNo?โ Tortured green eyes locked on mine. โYou saw her. Saw whatย heย did to her. And I didnโtโฆI couldnโt โโ His words broke off and he dropped his head in his hands. โFuck it. Whatโs the point?โ
โItโs not your fault,โ I replied slowly, brows furrowing. โYou have to know that.โ
More silence.
โI didnโt mean it,โ I tried again. โWhat I said on the phone? It was my panic talking, lad.โ
Nothing.
His lack of response caused a trickle of unease to creep up my spine. โYou are not responsible for your fatherโs actions,โ I repeated, fighting down the huge swell of sympathy flooding my body. โYouโre not, so donโt fuck up your life and your future by thinking you are.โ
Dropping his gaze to his knees, he whispered, โI couldnโt protect her.โ Shaking his head, he exhaled a broken sob. โI couldnโt protect any of them.โ
โThatโs not your job.โ My heart hammered wildly in my chest.ย Jesus. I felt like I was drowning in his pain. โYouโre not supposed to protect them.ย Theyโre supposed to protect them. Theyโre supposed to protectย allย of you, lad. Including you.โ
โI thought she was dead,โ he confessed in a voice so low it was barely audible. โAll the blood? On the floor? On the walls? On my clothes? Coming out of her mouth? Those gargling sounds she was making because she couldnโt breathe? Because she was fuckingย dying! And then the silence? The sound ofย nothingย at all?โ He pressed the heels of his hands against his eyes and hissed, โI canโt get the image out of my head โ and believe me, Iโve tried.โ
Jesus Christ.
Reeling, I sat there, cold to the bone, and listened to his truth.
โI couldnโt get him off me,โ he strangled out, chest heaving. โI knew she needed help โย I fuckingย knewย it โ but I couldnโt fight him off. I couldnโt doย anything!โ Shaking his head, he let out a humorless laugh as tears trickled down his cheeks. โAnd my brother,ย myย eleven-year-old baby brother, had to get him off me.โ Sniffing, he wiped his nose with the back of his hand and choked out a harsh sob. โWhileย sheย stood by and didย nothing.โ
โYour mother?โ
โWho else.โ
I let that sink in for a moment before asking, โAnd now?โ My voice was thick with emotion, but I forced myself to keep my shit together and continue. โWhat happens now?โ
โThe same thing that always happens,โ he muttered. โNothing.โ
โWith your Ma?โ I pushed, pressing my hand to my knee to stop it from shaking. โI mean, the Gards obviously know what your Da was doing to ye, and theyโll arrest him when they find him, but her?โ I shook my head, struggling to take it all in. โThereโs no consequences for taking a backseat? Youโre just supposed to go back and live with her?โ I swallowed down my anger and hissed, โIn that house?โ
Joey shrugged. โDidnโt you hear? Sheโs a victim, too. She needs to beย supported.โ
โShannon told me,โ I muttered, rubbing my jaw. โThatโs so messed up, lad.โ
โYeah, well, itโs on Darren now,โ Joey spat, blinking back his tears. โHe can figure it all out because Iโm done. I c-canโt f-fucking โโ his words broke off and he exhaled another hitched sob. โD-do this anymore,โ he finished with a sniffle. โI c-canโt forget and I wonโtย everย forgive.โ
I didnโt know what to say to that. I didnโt know what to say to any of it. Nothing in my life had prepared me for this conversation. For these people and their pain.
โYour sister loves you,โ I told him, feeling the need to tell him that, so that he knew at least one person in his world cared.
โMy sister lovesย you,โ he replied wearily.
โShe needs you,โ I added, ignoring the way my heart slammed wildly in my chest. โAnd from what I hear, your little brothers need you too, lad.โ
โBecause Iโm foundations,โ he choked out. โThatโs it โ thatโs all I am to them.โ
โFoundations?โ I frowned. โWhat does that mean?โ
โIt means Iโm the guy who goes around cleaning up everyone else in my familyโs shit.โ He dropped his head and clasped the back of his neck. โIt means Iโm the fucking mother.โ
โWell,โ I exhaled heavily and stretched my legs out, trying to ease the burn in my thighs. โYouโre one hell of a mother, Joey the hurler.โ
โSomeone has to be,โ he muttered as he ran a hand through his hair.
โWell, you did a good job,โ I told him. โAnd youโve come too far to throw it all away on a temporary high, lad.โ
โThe fuck would you know about it?โ he sneered.
โI know youโre trying to escape,โ I shot back. โThat much is perfectly clear. You want to forget about the shite for a while โ and Jesus, I donโt blame you โ but itโs temporary. Itโ notย real,ย Joey. And itโs not going to fix anything. All of your problems will still be there waiting for you, regardless of how much powder you snort up your nose or how many tablets you toss back your throat. You can smoke all the weed you want, drown yourself in a bottle of whiskey, shoot yourself up with every drug known to mankind and it wonโt change a damn thing because life willย stillย be waiting in the wings to kick your ass when you come to. I also know that if you keep going down this road, youโll get to a point where you wonโt be able to find your way back.โ
โEasy for you to say,โ he shot back, tone bitter. โYouโve never seen a hard day in your life.โ
โYouโre absolutely right,โ I agreed. โI donโt know what youโre going through. I have no fucking clue what it feels like to be you, and Iโm damn glad for that. But I have my own demons, lad. My own choices I had to make, where it would have been so much easier to pop a few tablets to kill the pain when my body was falling the fuck apart from the inside out, or use steroids to build up my body instead of grafting in the gym six hours a day. I know that sounds like nothing in the grand scheme of things, not compared to your family shite, but I didnโt do it, Joey, not one single time. Because Iย knewย that putting that shite in my body would only be a choice for so long before itย stoppedย being aย choiceย and started being aย necessity.โ
โShit,โ he choked out, and then laughed humorlessly. โWhere the fuck were you when I was sixteen, Kavanagh?โ Sniffing, he wiped his eyes and sighed dejectedly. โCouldโve done with the pep talk back then.โ
โWrong school,โ I offered with a halfhearted shrug.
โWrong life,โ he whispered.
I sighed heavily. โYeah.โ
There was a long stretch of silence before I spoke again.
โCan I help?โ I finally asked, feeling like a spare prick. โCan I do something forย you?โ
โYeah.โ With shaky hands, Joey clutched the basin of the sink and pulled himself to his feet. โYou can loan me some clothes.โ
We both knew thatย clothesย wasnโt what I meant, but I didnโt push him โ not when he seemed to be clinging to the edge.
Without saying another word, I stood up and walked back into my room. Pulling random items of clothing out of my dresser, I tossed them into the bathroom and left him to it.
Confused and on edge, I walked stiffly over to my window and stared out into the darkness while I waited for him to come back out, watching as droplets of rain pelted against the pane of glass.
So this is their life,ย I thought to myself,ย this is what she was hiding from you.
Gripping the window sill, I ignored the pain in my body and concentrated on my whirling thoughts, desperately trying to find a solution for something I wasnโt entirely sure could be solved. One thing I knew for sure was that I could never untangle myself from this girl. And whatโs more, I didnโt want to.
I knew this wasnโt good. Jesus, a blind man could see I needed to run far,ย farย away from this situation, but Iย couldnโt. Fucked up as it all seemed, I was quite content to remain right here, wrapped up in her personal breakdown. More than that, I wanted to wade in and do something, anything, to help her brother. It wasnโt even just about Shannon for me anymore. It was about Joey and three other little kids I hadnโt even laid eyes on. I wanted to help them all. My conscience demanded nothing less from me.
Several minutes passed by before the bathroom door swung open and Joey appeared in the doorway. He was dressed in a pair of my grey sweats and a white t-shirt, and looking like absolute shite.ย Clean shite, I mentally acknowledged,ย minus the vomit and smell.
โThanks for the clothes,โ he muttered, eyes bloodshot, face deathly pale. โDo you have a phone I could use?โ
My jaw ticked. I wasnโt sure about this. Was he planning on busting out of here? โWhy?โ
โBecause I need to call my girlfriend.โ
I eyed him warily. โYour girlfriend?โ
โYeah, my girlfriend,โ he hissed. โCan I use your phone or not?โ
Uncertain, I took my phone out and handed it to him. โYou donโt have to leave. You can stay, lad. For as long as you need.โ
Ignoring me, Joey leaned against the dresser and stabbed his trembling finger against the keypad of my phone, messing up repeatedly to the point where he threw his head back and roared. โCome the fuck on!โ
โWhatโs her number?โ I asked, taking the phone from him. โCall it out and Iโll dial it for you.โ
โI warned her off you, you know,โ he said, handing the phone back to me. โTold her youโd be leaving โ told her not to get her hopes up on you.โ
I shrugged, not one bit surprised given my current popularity status with his family. โWhatโs her number?โ
He muttered a string of numbers before saying, โDonโt let her down. Whatever youโre doing, Kavanagh, donโt fuck my sister over.โ
I tapped in the number and pressed call before handing it back to him and saying, โI wonโt.โ
With wary, mistrustful eyes, Joey placed the phone to his ear, body shaking and jolting violently. โAoife?โ he whispered a few seconds later. โItโs me.โ
Whatever his girlfriend said in response to that caused Joey to shudder.
Like visibly fuckingย shudder.
โI know,โ he whispered, clenching his eyes shut. โI know, okay? Iย knowย I promised. I fucked up.โ Turning his back to me, he ran a hand through his hair and choked out, โIโm so fucking sorry, baby.โ
Feeling uncomfortable, I decided to go downstairs in search of the others and leave Joey Lynch to his phone call/groveling. I wasnโt sure I wanted to hear it anyway, not when my head was already bursting to the seams with more information than I could process.
Gibsie was shoveling coal into an already roaring fire when I walked into the sitting room, and the girls were curled up on the couch. Correction; Claire was curled up on the couch with her legs tucked beneath her. Shannon, on the other hand, was sitting as straight as a poker on the edge of the seat beside her friend. Gibsie had obviously dragged the couch over to the fire, something we always did when the weather was bad out, and I was grateful. I wanted her to be warm. Iย neededย the peace of mind.
I cleared my throat before stepping inside, making a conscious effort not to startle her. She jumped clean out of her skin anyway and sprang off the couch, but the small smile she gave me assured me that I was a welcome surprise. โIs he okay?โ she asked, wide-eyed and panicked.
Not even close.ย Nodding, I forced a smile.
โOh, thank god.โ Her small shoulders sagged and she pressed a hand to her chest. โAre you sure?โ
No.
โHeโs sure,โ Gibsie answered for me. Placing the shovel back into the coal bucket, he stood up, stretched his arms over his head, and winked over at me. โAllโs well in the world again.โ
โSee?โ Claire added, giving her an encouraging smile. โI told you that you had nothing to worry about.โ
Shannon didnโt look so convinced. Her gaze flicked between Gibs and Claire before returning to me. โAreย youย sure?โ she asked, looking at me with those haunting blue eyes.
I opened my mouth to lie, to tell her what she needed to hear, that everything was okay and she had nothing to worry about, but the words, โNo, Iโm not sure,โ came out instead. I fucked it even further by saying, โHeโs in a bad way, actually. A really bad way,โ and then I topped it off with, โIโm worried about him.โ
Shannonโs face fell and both Claire and Gibsie groaned in unison.
โNice one, Cap,โ Gibsie muttered. โWe only spent the last hour telling her different.โ
โYeah, very comforting, Johnny,โ Claire added sulkily.
โWell, Iโm not going toย lieย to her,โ I snapped. Running a hand through my hair in frustration, I looked at Shannon. โIโm not going to do that, okay?โ
Shannon nodded stiffly. โI should go check on him.โ She hurried past me, only to pause in the doorway. โIs it okay if I go up and check โโ
โGo,โ I told her before she finished. โDonโt ask for my permission, Shannon. You donโt need it.โ
She nodded once more before slipping out of the room.
โMaybe once in a while, you could attempt to twist the truth,โ Gibsie offered, waving a finger around aimlessly. โYou know, romance a situation up a tad to spare feelings and unnecessaryย stress.โ
โBy lying to her?โ I narrowed my eyes at him. โYeah, lad, that sounds like real solid advice. Tell me how thatโs going to work for me?โ
Gibsie shrugged. โFuck if I know, lad, but that girl is buckling under the weight of some pretty heavy issues right now, so Iโm thinking a few white lies might be easier to take than the blunt truth.โ
I opened my mouth to protest but stopped myself. โYouโre right.โ
โYeah, I know,โ Gibsie mused. โContrary to popular belief โ mostly my motherโs โ it does happen sometimes.โ
Theย Crazy Frog/Axel Fย song blasted through the room then, loud and annoying as fuck, and causing Gibsie to reach for his phone and me to groan in sheer fucking despair.
โItโs mine,โ Claire chirped, holding her phone up. She glanced at the phone and grimaced. โItโs my Mamย again.โ
โDonโt tell her that youโre with me,โ Gibsie warned. โWhatever you do, babe, doย notย tell that woman that Iโm with you.โ
Claire glared at him. โWho else would I be with? Besides, thereโs no point since she saw me getting into your car!โ
He shrugged uncomfortably. โSheโll kill you.โ
โYeah, Gerard, I know,โ she hissed before clicking receive and putting the phone to her ear. โHi, Mam โ yeah, I know what you saidโฆyeah, I know, Mam, but itโs not what you thinkโฆโ Putting her head down, Claire hurried past me, speaking so low and fast that I couldnโt make out a word of it.
โWhy will her mother kill her?โ I asked, eyeing Gibsie with suspicion. โWhat have you done that you havenโt told me about?โ
Looking everywhere but my face, Gibsie muttered something about โa huge fucking mistakeโย before bolting after her.
I hoped for Gibsieโs sake he didnโt makeย thatย kind of mistake with Claire because Hughie Biggs had a temper on him when the notion took him, and I wasnโt in any fit state to stop them from killing each other.
โWell, shite,โ I mumbled, staring after them both. โThe drama just keeps on coming.โ
