A drianna had ignored me the whole day and I was glad for it. It was better this way, better to have our old animosity back. As I skated around the rink, my head was like a case full of exploding bombs.
Margo skated up toward me. She took a job to be the physical therapist for the hockey tea. She didn’t need an excuse to be on the ice.
She wasn’t half bad on the ice. “Hey, Prince.” She smiles.
I rolled my eyes showing that her presence wasn’t appreciated at the very moment. She was about to add to my irritation.
“Okay, you have to stop being rude to people.” She scowls, folding her arms together.
“I’m not in the mood to talk.” I spit out. “Well, I am.”
I look at her, stopping, “You’re always in the mood to talk.”
She scowls, “I never understood why you seem to hate everything Adrianna is associated with.”
“I don’t.” I skated faster, hoping she didn’t catch up with me.
“Why do you hate her?” She asks and I let a nerve snap inside me. I pause looking back at her.
“That’s none of your fucking business.”
She smiles, but in a devilish way that made me kind of wary. “Okay.
Then I’ll say this once.”
She skates closer to me, “You hate Adrianna purely because you desire her. Because you can’t have her.”
My head felt like the former bombs had been lit and ready to explode in any minute.
“At least she admitted she wanted you, but you… you will never stop being a coward because even with her right in front of you, you still choose the option that you don’t really want.”
I stared into her eyes, and she was dead serious, I was taller, and I was sure she was intimidated as she shied back down after her comment.
“Why are you telling me this?”
She looks around, “It’s the end of practice and you are out here skating around wasting your damn time while she’s in her room getting ready to lose her virginity tonight.”
“Why do you think I care?” I laugh, “If I did, you would think I would’ve just fucked her the moment she walked into my room.”
“I think you care because you chose not to fuck her.” She says plainly as I quieten down.
“She can do what she wants.”
Margo ignores my comment by asking another question. “Why do you want August?” She folds her arms together.
I turn around to leave, “I’m not about to talk about this with you.” “You will.” She yells.
I turn around once more, “She was my first love, it makes sense. I treated her terribly.” I sigh, “I want to make it up to her. I can treat her better.”
“That’s guilt. That’s not love.” Margo looks over to the locker room, “Just because you want to be with them because you made a mistake doesn’t mean you loved them at all, it means you’re selfish and you want to make yourself feel better.”
I look over to the locker room seeing Liam walk out with his bag, “Are we still talking about me?”
Margo quiets down, “If you really loved August, you wouldn’t be kissing Adrianna or thinking about her, you wouldn’t be giving her a jacket because you don’t want men to look at her.”
“The jacket stunt was because everyone would see she was my girlfriend.”
“That’s bull-fucking-shit and you know it. You hired a bodyguard for her, Prince. You sent someone to the fucking emergency room because of her.”
I didn’t even know what to say. Margo Hamilton left me speechless. Not that I talked much anyways.
“If you love August then don’t give Adrianna an indication that you want to be together, because I will make sure she will never acknowledge you ever again.”
I shake my head, “What if I care about Adrianna?”
“If you care about Adrianna, then once I leave here, you will take a shower and change. You will search every bar in Hawthorne, hell, maybe even in New Crest, just to stop her from picking who to lose her virginity to.” Margo shows her pearly whites at me as I roll my eyes.
“You’ve been smoking crack.” I laugh, skating away from her, I turn my head to look at Margo who skated out of the rink, beginning to walk out of the rink. I keep skating further away from her so I would be tempted.
Who was she to tell me that I cared about Adrianna? She was full of bullshit, and she was acting like a damn fortune teller. She has no idea why I’m doing the shit I’m doing.
Maybe she should figure out her problems with Liam before trying to fix my fucking life, I didn’t need her advice and I surely didn’t fucking ask for it.
Adrianna being in my head is simply a fucking joke and what I felt for August was not guilt.
Before I knew it, I was close to the hockey board, nearest to the door. “Which bar are you guys going to?” I scream as she looks back with a
damn smile on her face.
“I’m not sure.” She yells back.
I grow irritated, “You mean to tell me you give me that fucking speech and you can’t even tell me the bar you guys are going to?”
“Oh, I know which bar it is!” She exclaims.
I bang on the hockey board, “You going to tell me, Hamilton?!” I scream.
Margo’s grin widens as I knock my head back, “What’s the fun in that?” She winks at me before running out the door.
I look at the clock at the top of the doorway before she runs back in, “Don’t tell her I told you, you aren’t supposed to know!”
Before I yell at her, she slams the door shut causing me to catch my words. I take a deep breath, walking out of the ice rink, and into the locker room, pulling out my gloves and my phone.
“Prince?” Liam answers as I groan, “We’re bar hunting tonight.”
I inform him as he laughs, “Okay? You need me to tell Chris and Neil?”
I pause “No, don’t bother Chris, he’s with Finn and I don’t think Chris has had a good night’s sleep in forever.”
Liam’s silence had been an indication of him agreeing. I sigh, “What is it?” He asks.
“I need to find Adrianna tonight.”
“You finally admit that you want her?” “No.” I grumble.
“Right, so you don’t need my help?”
“If you hang up on me right now, I will beat the shit out of you.” Liam laughed, I was obviously serious, but I also knew that Liam would do anything for me, including finding the girls.
“And Liam?” “Yeah?”
One thing I knew about being a good captain was that everyone respects, we would do anything for each other. I even helped Smith build an Ikea table for his mother on a Tuesday night.
We were ready to do anything for each other, but I never asked for help from the team, and I had always taken pride in that.
Except now.
“Call the team and ask them to search every fucking bar in Hawthorne, New Crest or even fucking Van Doren.” I sigh, “If they don’t find Adrianna, they can stay and have a drink, it’s on me.”
Liam laughs with a pause, “Roger that Cap.”
I felt like I was about to spiral. If I had found out that Adrianna had gotten touched by another man, I would rip the guy to shreds and even fix him a new face.
He wouldn’t mind getting his balls shoved down his throat, right? I hope not.
ADRIANNA
P
epper spray? Check. Lip Gloss? Check.
“Do you have condoms?” Margo asks as I roll my eyes, pulling an extra one out of my bag and handing it to her.
“You are a lifesaver.” She voices as I look over to Juliette and
Verina who already downed two shots of tequila.
Not my type of alcohol to be honest I was more of a champagne or Riesling type of girl. But tonight, was my night to get wasted.
My night to get rid of a burden.
“You guys going to make it until the end of the night?”
Verina gave a bright look at me, “Oh sweetheart, Juliette and I can take it, but can you?”
“Why do you just ask me and not Margo as well?”
Margo laughs, looking at me, “Oh sweetheart, I’m engaged. I can get wasted and I’ll just have to send him a text and he’s there to my rescue.”
“Let’s be for real. Since, Liam Brookshire isn’t grazing our presence, do you actually like this guy?”
Margo pauses, “He’s attractive.”
“That wasn’t the question.” Verina interrupts.
Margo hesitates to answer for a bit, “Of course I like him, I wouldn’t have said yes if I didn’t.”
“It’s just you have never mentioned him before.” Juliette pops a grape into her mouth, “And you haven’t shut up about Liam for the past month.”
“My infatuation about Liam was a joke and I only liked him clearly because he’s the biggest player in school. I couldn’t help myself and I got burned.”
“Ben treats me the way I need to be treated. He wants me, he can’t keep his hands off of me, and he has beautiful eyes that holds mystery.”
“Any skeletons in the back of his closet?” I ask as she pushes me over playfully, “Don’t try to distract me with your questions, your wings are getting plucked tonight, Dove.”
I flip Margo off, “Don’t call me that, it makes me gag.”
“Oh sorry, is that only reserved for Mr. Grayson Prince himself?”
The limo comes to a stop as my heartbeat falls to normal levels, “Oh look! We’re finally here!”
Juliette and Verina’s eyes gleamed as they practically flew out of the limo as I started to walk out before Margo pulled me back down to the seat a bit harshly.
“Ouch!” I scowl at her as she smiles, giving me a thoughtful look, “Please be careful.”
“I will, you know me, I won’t just pick a random guy and get it over with.”
I mean sure it was the plan, but I wasn’t going to tell Margo that, “What if you see the dick size and you think it’s too small or too big?”
“Margo!”
“I’m serious!” She laughs, putting her hands on mine, “You have to be comfortable, and you have to be careful, don’t let him come inside you.”
I roll my eyes, “Margo Raine!” I let out a laugh, “I’m not uneducated!” “No, of course not, I just don’t want you to think that boys won’t take
advantage.”
“I have pepper spray.” I say nonchalantly as she nods.
“And don’t forget the karate we’ve been learning since second grade.”
“Are we done here?” I grew irritated as she smiled at me, pulling me in for a hug.
“I love you.” She whispers.
I shake my head, feeling bad that I was irritated at my best friend, “I love you more.”
Margo and I jump out of the limo as she tips the driver two hundred dollars, “Keep this quiet to my parents, will you?”
Shaq smiles, “Yes ma’am.”
I smile at the driver before he rolls up the window then drives off.
I look to the bar, “The Ringer?” I send a condescending look to Margo. She beams, “It’s cool inside.”
“Then let’s get moving on! You guys take forever to confess your love!” Verina complains as I place my arm around her shoulders.
“Calm down, babe, you will get your shots in.” Margo walks over to the bouncer, slipping in her card, all he really had to do was look at her last name before mindlessly letting us in.
She winks at him before flipping her hair, “You have a room ready for us?”
“Of course.”
He directed us to the VIP room, while greedy men looked at us like expensive cattle. I tend to look for the guys that don’t mind that we were here.
And one certainly caught my attention, he seemed to be blonde which made my heart race thinking about Grayson.
Margo places her bag down on the table as I smile, “I’m off!”
Verina and Juliette had been lost already as I spotted them taking body shots off of a shirtless guy.
“Use the condom!” She screams as I wanted to shove her bag into her mouth, even without a mother, Margo acted like one when it came to my safety.
She was there for me when I overdosed. She was really the only one I told.
Nothing would make me happier than to finally tell Verina and Juliette, but I wouldn’t want to worry them like I’ve worried Margo.
Margo was the type of friend who would take your pain just because she hates seeing you upset. She was my sunlight when I was at a very dark place in my life.
I have always felt like I won the friendship lottery with Margo. She was my priceless jackpot.
If there was one thing, I was thankful for, it was that she was in the same world as me and she was my person.
I approached the guy that made my heart race, I seemed to forget that I had anxiety out of the roof. I popped a couple pills before meeting Margo out front.
She didn’t need to know I was using it again.
I tap him on the shoulder. He turns with a scowl before taking a good look at me, “Hey precious.” He murmurs as I feel butterflies in my stomach spread.
“Hello.” I smirk back looking at his drink, “Can I?”
He brings the drink up to my lips, pouring some in I swallow, wiping the remainder that dripped down the chin.
I take out my hand, “Adrianna.” He smiles.
“Anthony.” He takes my hand, bringing me by the bar.
“Can I buy you something sweetheart?” He shifts his body weight, also giving me a wink.
“Can you afford me?” I whispered by his ear. He tightens, “I’d like to find out.”
I had barely listened to him before looking at his lips. That could do.
I pulled him in, kissing him fiercely, not caring about the music or the people around us. I needed to find out if he was the man that I was picking tonight. Anthony kissed me back; he kissed me with passion as I took it in.
He moans as I grip on his collared t-shirt, hearing whistles from strangers as he drives his tongue into my mouth making me groan, but he shoved it so far down my throat I almost gagged.
He grips my waist making me uneasy.
When Grayson would grip my waist, he would do it like I was his salvation and his last breath.
I pictured him. But I shouldn’t have. I shouldn’t be.
I walked and pulled his arm close to me, directing him into a private room with a bed and a couch, a room that Margo had reserved for me.
I wasn’t sure if having s*x for the first time was wise at a bar with someone I barely knew. It wasn’t smart, but it was my best plan. And it was too late to change my mind.
